A fundamental objective of design education is for students to develop the ability to approach problems creatively and generate conceptual objectives within their work. How might the direct engagement of sites, explorations at multiple scales, and making representational material artifacts—collages, drawings, and models—facilitate the beginning students’ ability to develop a point of view rooted in a conceptual agenda?
